Security systems

“ORTONICA” Ltd. has developed a system for providing assistance to persons with reduced mobility in emergency situations during movement, such as:
- wheelchair breakage during movement of persons with reduced mobility;
- impaired well-being;
- sudden changes in weather conditions;
- direct threats to life from third parties;
- other cases.
Thanks to specially installed emergency signal systems on mechanical and electric wheelchairs, both for children and adults, they can be controlled anywhere in the country.
This monitoring and safety method allows the emergency signal to be transmitted both to a centralised control panel that directs and controls the movement of the wheelchair user and directly to mobile communication devices (phone, tablet) based on Android, IOS, if a special application is installed.

SOS, GPS operating principle for powered wheelchair
A person with reduced mobility using a wheelchair can move independently at any distance within the range of a GPS signal, which transmits the coordinates and location of the person to the operator's control panel or to the phone of a relative/relative.
In an emergency, the wheelchair user presses the emergency SOS button located on the elbow support of the wheelchair, and this information is immediately transmitted via a GPS signal to the operator's console or the mobile phone of the person responsible, who in turn receives the signal on his/her personal portable receiving device (phone, tablet) in the form of the coordinates of the person's location, determines his/her exact position and takes urgent action to travel to the origin of the signal and provide assistance.
In case the SOS signal is received at the operator's console, the operator forwards this command to a special service in the SSD equipped with a specialised loading/unloading vehicle with a mechanised platform, which leaves and takes the PRM to the required location once the fact of the occurrence is established.
In case the SOS signal is received on the phone or tablet of the responsible person (relative), the responsible person shall take action to take and transport the person with reduced mobility to the designated place or provide medical assistance on the spot.
This notification and control system can be installed on both mechanical and electrical mobility equipment for PRMs on request (option), or it can be provided and financed by public services, in addition to all types of wheelchairs issued in the technical rehabilitation centre.

SOS, GPS device, Reclining seat angle (RSA) indicator for electric wheelchairs
The second device we would like to offer you can also be installed as an option on electric wheelchairs with a travel speed exceeding that of mechanised wheelchairs of 0-7 km/h and which do not react quickly to obstacles or inclination angles greater than 16 degrees, which may cause the electric wheelchair to tip over arbitrarily.

Our offer:
In addition to the installation of the location tracking device and the SOS, GPS signal button on power wheelchairs, which as we mentioned above is also installed on power chairs, this chair can be equipped with a horizontal positioning system (RSA) as an option, a gyroscopic effect system which, in the event of a roll of more than 16 degrees above a specified angle, activates an audible and visual warning signal located on the steering wheel of the power-operated device, thereby informing the person driving the power-operated device of the possibility of overturning.

In this way, both systems allow a person with reduced mobility to feel much safer when travelling unaccompanied and over distances beyond the basic route.
Both of these developments can be installed on any wheelchair, from any manufacturer, and can be serviced by our company's specialists, providing condition monitoring with our control panel and assistance service team, on request.
"On 15 March 2019, ORTONICA Ltd. signed contract No VP-L-2019/15 with the Latvian Investment and Development Agency for support in the evaluation of three potential GPS/SOS technological solutions for equipping powered wheelchairs and other mobility aids with GPS/SOS global positioning and notification systems. The support is provided within the framework of the European Regional Development Fund project "Technology Transfer Programme" (project identification number 1.2.1.2/16/I/001).
